This Week

Next Week

Phonics/
writing
For our first week in reception we clapped our names to hear and count how many sounds they make. This is a great game to prepare children to hear individual sounds in words.
Next week, we will begin our first phonic lessons and learn the sound, action and letter formation of the letters ‘Ss’ and ‘Mm’. We will play matching and sounding out objects beginning in the sound ‘s’ and ‘m’.
Math
We introduced a math game named ‘Numicon’ through sensory activities. We will use Numicon throughout the school year to understand the concept of numbers, patterns, addition and subtraction.
We will play ‘estimate games’. This is a fantastic way for children learn number representation and number quantity through handsome activities.
PSED
We read a book about ‘looking after property’ discussing the importance of taking good care of our classroom games and tools.
Next week, we will talk about sharing and taking turns. How can play together in harmony.

Science
To become familiar with our school and the building we are in, we went on a tour of our EY building. We looked at all the classrooms, the EY library, the playground, the canteen and all the bathrooms to make sure we all know where everything is. We then came back to our class and tried to create a visual map using blocks and crayons.
Next week, we will be playing 2 sensory activities on the sense of ‘touch’.
Art
In Art this week we worked on our names. We wrote our names to label our personal folder for our class’ work and we also painted and decorated our name.
Next week, we will continue having art activities during free play but we will also be continuing our exploration on the sense of ‘touch’ with 2 activities.
Physical
We played ‘Simons says’ to work on our positional language and movement control.
Next week, we will go on a sensory walk to develop our sense of touch using our feet.
