Let's explore painting...

This week, we are learning several painting techniques.
On Monday we explored painting with watercolor. Watercolor is one of the most difficult medium to learn and master. It requires soft and gently brush strokes and a balanced in using water and watercolor paint. Children often struggle using watercolor. They had too much water and the paper rips, of they don't mix the paint with enough water and have difficulty painting.

To help your child experiment with water these are the tips I would suggest:
  • before starting the activity model (show) how to use watercolor first
  • gentle brush strokes
  • use lots of water but not too much and mix mix well the paint and the water before putting it on your paper
  • then paint with gentle strokes: up and down
